SUZUKI Tech - 2016 SUZUKI GSX-S1000 ENGINE

A look at how skillfully adapted the old Suzuki K5 power, and use it to drive the new 2016 GSX-S1000.

At this time, several young people can afford to buy a new 1000cc sport motorcycle manufacturer market recovery, or whether it is to modify products to attract buyers disposable income.

One such buyer, Suzuki tells us, is greater than the average income of the people, 40-year-old, who has a hot-headed in the past. Such riders to be lightweight, flexible and powerful performance, rather than riding position and POWERBAND super harder to use.

Therefore, this new 2016 Suzuki GSX-S1000 is not just a relaxed riding position Superbike. Its engine, based on the classic 73.4 mm x59.0 mm 2005 GSX-R1000 K5 power to the 2008 re-optimized acceleration curve sleepy streets and weekends. It has the basic modern electronic legendary K5 missing: tri-mode traction control sampling, 250 times per second, and optional digital ABS.

Suzuki engine again to increase the bottom quarter of the cam torque curve. Reduce the top end of the valve overlap a sacrifice accompanying this cam timing, so that the peak engine speed of 1000 short original K5, giving a claimed 145 hp at 10,000 rpm. Most of the drivers in the speed range of use, the engine provides a powerful base, medium acceleration, speed without the need to dig down. Its sound is well-known Suzuki exhaust plane crankshaft wail.

Lower peak speed allows the use of stainless steel instead of lighter titanium valve - a category worthy of the price competitiveness of the economy, but they are the same 30/24 mm size as the K5. This engine does not need the usual racing dual injector fuel system with 44 mm throttle body in a single 10-hole injector (the same size as in the K7 GSX-RS). Since the lifting torque at all speed compression ratio of this engine is normal 12.2: General Level 1 87 (R + M) / 2 gasoline. Connecting rods are expensive shot peening steel, titanium rather than price, and there is no slipper clutch.

Finally, there is a simple start system. Just turn the key, so that the throttle position hold steady through the warm-up idling.
